On Saturday, March 30, Rwanda Formed Police Unit (RWAFPU1-9) serving under the United Nations Multidimensional Stabilization Mission in Central African Republic (MINUSCA), in collaboration with local population, conducted Umuganda (communal work) to clean Sica II market located in the 2nd Arrondissement in the capital Bangui.
The communal exercise is part of the Rwandan Police peacekeepers’ human security activities in mission areas.
It aimed at promoting hygiene and sanitation as one of the identities community health challenges, contribute to their socio-economic development, and to protect the environment.
The exercise also lays a platform for partnership between the peacekeepers and the local population under their protection.
Josias Eric Kongbo, who represented the 2nd Arrondissement leadership, lauded the role of Rwandan peacekeepers in restoring peace and security in CAR.
“You protected us during violent conflicts and insecurity and now support us to improve the well-being of the people.
This community work promotes good health, hygiene and protects the environment,” Kongbo said.
