GLFx Nyanza chapter has officially debuted within the Global Landscapes Forum (GLFx) network.
This marks the first initiative from Rwanda to join the esteemed global network, showcasing the country’s commitment to landscape transformation and community empowerment.
Led by the Dufatanye Organization in Nyanza, Southern Province of Rwanda, the GLFx Nyanza chapter aims to uplift over 2,100 people from poverty.
The chapter’s efforts focus on implementing holistic agricultural, health, and education programs across six communities.
Through initiatives like the Village of Hope program, families are provided with essential resources such as fruit trees, fodder trees, organic fertilizers, and hens.
Additionally, the chapter offers crucial training in household finance, health care, agroforestry, and kitchen gardening.
Operating in a landscape marred by deforestation and soil erosion, the GLFx Nyanza chapter faces significant challenges.
Communities within the region grapple with social conflict, malnutrition, hunger, and infectious diseases. Despite these obstacles, the chapter remains steadfast in its mission to drive positive change at the grassroots level.
The GLFx network, comprising 19 existing African chapters, serves as a platform for locally rooted organizations dedicated to landscape transformation and community development.
Through GLFx, the Nyanza chapter will gain access to a global network of organizations and partners, along with learning, visibility, and funding opportunities.
This support will bolster their efforts in landscape management, governance, and restoration, amplifying their impact and advancing environmental and community action across the continent.
