Members of the Chamber of Deputies will embark on a countrywide tour from October 24 to 26, engaging with citizens on preparations for the upcoming 2025A agricultural season. This outreach is part of the national effort to improve collaboration between lawmakers and the public, with visits planned in all provinces and Kigali City.
The Chamber of Deputies has organized this initiative to coincide with the national Umuganda (community service) event scheduled at the end of the month. During the visits, MPs will interact with citizens, addressing concerns and gathering feedback to ensure a smooth agricultural season ahead.
Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Hon. Gertrude Kazarwa, expressed the importance of this initiative: “As MPs in our fifth term, these visits are an opportunity to connect with citizens, recognize their role in national projects, and work closely to address any issues they may have, especially concerning agricultural development.”
The visits will also provide MPs with an opportunity to express gratitude to citizens for their participation in recent peaceful elections. Furthermore, they will focus on assessing agricultural and livestock projects, with a particular emphasis on encouraging productive engagement between local authorities and citizens.
Local leaders will update MPs on previously raised concerns and outline actions taken to address them. This ongoing dialogue will reinforce the government’s commitment to addressing public issues and improving agricultural outcomes, which remain essential for Rwanda’s economic prosperity.
