Kamanzi Claudine, an advocate for nature conservation and the founder of the Forest for Life Project, has been recognized as one of the 2024 Restoration Stewards.
Selected among 300 candidates, she secured this prestigious recognition from the Youth in Landscapes Initiative and the Global Landscapes Forum.
This recognition entitles her to receive substantial funding, mentorship, and networking opportunities.
In the program’s fourth year, Kamanzi will represent one of the two 2024 Dryland Restoration Stewards.
She aims to expand the impact of her project in the Kayovu Model village in Bugesera district by integrating ecological, social, and economic facets to uplift the local community.
Through this program, she will receive scientific guidance, peer mentoring, training, and a grant of €5,000, among other valuable resources.
Kamanzi Claudine’s expertise spans conservation agriculture, photography, and video direction.
Her Forest for Life Project focuses on restoring lands in the Kayovu Model village, emphasizing biodiversity enhancement, soil fertility improvement, and sustainable land management practices.
Her efforts center on instigating a resilient and productive landscape by implementing capacity-building initiatives, reforestation drives, and promoting agroforestry systems with native indigenous trees.
Joining Kamanzi are six other adept young restoration experts from Bolivia, Brazil, India, Kenya, Nigeria, and the Philippines.
All of them have been chosen for the year-long Restoration Stewards program (stewards.globallandscapesforum.org) aimed at restoring drylands, forests, mountains, wetlands, and oceans throughout the course of 2024.
