The Rwanda Journalists Association (ARJ) has announced the launch of the 2024 Development Journalism Awards (DJA), set to take place on November 7, 2024. This prestigious event, organized in collaboration with the Rwanda Governance Board (RGB) and the Rwanda Media Commission (RMC), aims to honor journalists who have demonstrated exceptional professionalism and contributed to public interest reporting across various media platforms.
The awards ceremony will coincide with Africa Day of Information, underscoring the critical role that journalism plays in promoting transparency, accountability, and informed public discourse. Journalists working in print, online, radio, and TV are invited to submit their best work, with categories ranging from investigative reporting to feature stories, documentaries, and data journalism.
Special recognition will also be given to female journalists, with an award dedicated to outstanding work by women in the field. Thematic categories include awards for disability and inclusion reporting, as well as gender equality and advocacy journalism.
Submissions are open until early November, with strict guidelines on length and format depending on the category. The DJA seeks to inspire journalists to uphold the highest standards, encouraging competition and the pursuit of excellence in Rwanda’s rapidly evolving media landscape.
