Rwanda’s Sports Minister, Aurore Mimosa together with Barbados Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Kerrie Symmonds, on Thursday Morning, November 10, attended the official launch and introduction of “Road Tennis” in Rwanda.
Minister Mimosa expressed gratitude to Barbados for introducing the Road Tennis to Rwandans as an additional outdoor entertainment.
“We owe you a special vote of thanks for introducing our President to Road Tennis, in Barbados. We also thank our Barbadian partners for teaching us about this unique and fun game,” she said.
Road Tennis originated in Barbados back in 1930 as a community based sport played in public residential spaces (roads, schools, community centers and recreational areas) .
For its initiation in Rwanda, it will start in four locations; Kigali Heights, Kimisagara, Nyamirambo and Kabuga) across City of Kigali and later on will expand to upcountry communities.
