Rwanda Cereals & Grains Fetch U.5m in Weekly Exports

Rwandan cereals, grains and flour are highly being sought after by traders within the region and as far as the middle east.

Last week alone(Jan,28-Feb,3) Rwanda exported Cereals, grains & flour with a combined revenue fetched worth U$1,534,281 and shipped to DRC, UAE and South Sudan.

Other agri-products exported included; Animal products-U$218,367, Roots & tubers-U$231,874, Pulses-U$214,560, Oleaginous-U$915,642 and an assortment of other worth U$175,827.

Rwanda coffee currently is on top of the list as the leading foreign exchange earner by raking in U$2,796,579 from 489.6MT sold at U$5.7/Kg. The main buyers of Rwanda’s coffee include; South Arabia, UAE, and France.

Data for Rwandan tea exports for last week: (Jan, 28 – Feb, 3) indicate that over 505.2MT of tea were exported to Pakistan, UK, and Egypt and earned the country U$1,379,321.

Meanwhile, National Agricultural Export Development Board (NAEB) said on Monday that Rwanda exported 426.3MT of horticultural products (fruits, vegetables & flowers) valued at U$970,852. These products were shipped to DRC, UAE, UK, Netherlands, Germany, and Nigeria.
