The Rwandan Cabinet was briefed today on key initiatives aimed at enhancing industrialization, improving education outcomes, decentralizing civil registration services, and fostering space innovation.
In efforts to boost economic growth, the Cabinet highlighted strategies to strengthen key sectors such as agro-processing, leather, textiles, and construction materials.
A Private Sector Support Facility (PSSF) will provide affordable financing to manufacturing and mining industries, while industrial parks will be upgraded with essential infrastructure to attract investment.
On education, the Ministry of Education reaffirmed its commitment to expanding learning facilities, integrating technology, and enhancing student retention.
A nationwide teacher proficiency program is underway to improve English language skills, ensuring educators meet global standards. Additionally, an alternative education pathway will be introduced to support out-of-school youth with vocational and foundational skills for employment.
The Cabinet also discussed Rwanda’s Space Policy, aimed at positioning the country as a regional space hub. This includes developing satellite infrastructure, using space data for socio-economic decision-making, and fostering skills development to attract investment.
To improve service delivery, the government is decentralizing civil registration services to health facilities and local administrative units. The number of registration sites will increase from 446 to 3,220, and the name-change process will be digitized with a 30-day approval period.
These initiatives reflect Rwanda’s commitment to sustainable development, economic transformation, and improved public services.
