Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Olivier Nduhungirehe, joined members of the Qatari community in Rwanda on Monday evening to commemorate Qatar’s National Day. The event, held at the Kigali Convention Centre, celebrated the founding of Qatar as an independent nation and highlighted the flourishing ties between the two countries.
Speaking during the ceremony, Minister Nduhungirehe praised the deep-rooted and steadily growing partnership between Rwanda and Qatar. He reflected on the strong collaboration in sectors such as trade, investment, aviation, and infrastructure development, emphasizing the mutual benefits of the bilateral relationship.
“Rwanda and Qatar share a vision of progress and sustainable development. Our partnership has grown stronger over the years, and we remain committed to exploring new opportunities for cooperation,” Nduhungirehe said.
The celebration brought together diplomats, dignitaries, and members of the Qatari community living in Rwanda.
Qatar’s Ambassador to Rwanda expressed gratitude to the Rwandan government for its continued support and friendship. He commended Rwanda’s role in fostering international partnerships and reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to enhancing ties.
The diplomatic relationship between Rwanda and Qatar has grown significantly in recent years, marked by high-level engagements and strategic collaborations. Qatar Airways’ direct flights to Kigali have strengthened connectivity, while joint ventures in hospitality and infrastructure continue to boost economic ties.
Qatar’s National Day, celebrated annually on December 18, commemorates the unification of the country in 1878 under its founding father, Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani. This year’s celebration in Kigali not only honored Qatar’s independence but also served as a testament to the enduring friendship and shared aspirations between Rwanda and Qatar.
As the evening concluded, Minister Nduhungirehe reiterated Rwanda’s commitment to enhancing its partnership with Qatar, expressing optimism about the future of their collaboration. Both nations look forward to achieving mutual goals, fostering development, and strengthening international diplomacy.
