On the sidelines of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) Ministerial Meetings, Rwanda’s Minister of State, Rtd. Gen. James Kabarebe, engaged in a strategic discussion with the Senior Vice President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The focus of their meeting was the ongoing collaborative projects in Rwanda, which have played a crucial role in the country’s development.
During the discussion, both parties expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far in various sectors. They also agreed on the necessity to expand these initiatives, ensuring they are closely aligned with Rwanda’s National Strategy for Transformation 2 (NST2).
The NST2, a comprehensive roadmap for Rwanda’s socio-economic transformation, emphasizes inclusive development, economic growth, and citizen-centered governance.
Rtd. Gen. Kabarebe highlighted the importance of these projects in achieving Rwanda’s long-term goals, particularly in areas such as infrastructure, agriculture, and human resource development.
He stressed the need for continued partnership and support from JICA to ensure that the projects not only meet their intended goals but also contribute to the broader vision of the NST2.
The Senior Vice President of JICA reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to supporting Rwanda’s development agenda. He acknowledged the positive impact of the ongoing projects and emphasized Japan’s willingness to explore new areas of collaboration that would further enhance Rwanda’s growth trajectory.
As Rwanda continues to implement the NST2, the collaboration with JICA is expected to play a pivotal role in driving key sectors forward, contributing to sustainable development and improving the livelihoods of the Rwandan people.
The TICAD Ministerial Meetings provided a valuable platform for Rwanda and Japan to strengthen their bilateral ties and reaffirm their commitment to shared development goals.
