The Minister of State James Kabarebe joined the Embassy of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria in Rwanda to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of the Glorious Revolution of November 1, 1954. The event celebrated Algeria’s historic struggle for independence, emphasizing its enduring significance in the fight against oppression and colonial rule.
In his address, Minister Kabarebe underscored the importance of remembering the revolution, calling it a “powerful reminder of the resilience and unity required to overcome adversity.” He praised the courage and determination of the Algerian people during their fight for independence, noting its inspiration to other liberation movements across the African continent.
Minister Kabarebe also took the opportunity to reflect on the strong diplomatic and bilateral ties between Rwanda and Algeria, describing them as a “testament to our shared commitment to peace, security, and development.” He highlighted the enduring friendship between the two nations, rooted in mutual respect and collaboration on issues such as regional stability and socioeconomic growth.
The event was attended by diplomats, government officials, and members of the Algerian community in Rwanda. It featured cultural performances and reflections on the historical significance of November 1, 1954, marking a pivotal moment in Algeria’s journey toward sovereignty.
