The Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) has arrested Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Richard Rutatina following an investigation into allegations of ordering his employees to assault a man who had spent the night at his house located on his farm. He was detained along with 10 of his employees.
The assaulted individual had visited an employee working on the farm located in Kayonza District, Murundi Sector. The assault reportedly occurred under instructions from Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Richard Rutatina.
The incident took place on November 27, 2024, and the arrest was made on December 1, 2024.
The victim is currently receiving medical care, and doctors report that his condition is improving.
The case involving him and his employees has been submitted to the Prosecution Office today, December 6, 2024.
RIB has urged Rwandans to refrain from taking justice into their own hands, emphasizing that such actions constitute a crime punishable by law. Instead, individuals are encouraged to report any offenses to the relevant authorities.
