Rwanda Defence Force, in collaboration with the United States Africa Command (USAFRICOM) and the Nebraska National Guard (NENG), provided medical care to 5,000 individuals over ten days in a joint medical outreach programme conducted in Rwamagana and Kayonza districts.
Lt Col Dr John Bukuru from Rwanda Military Hospital said that the joint team carried out 92 successful surgeries in Rwamagana Teaching Hospital, Gahini District Hospital, and Mwulire Health Centre.
He expressed gratitude for the partnership between the two military forces and the local government, which facilitated the treatment of a significant number of patients within a short timeframe.
The services provided included Orthopedics, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Gynecology, Ophthalmology, ENT (ear, nose, and throat), Pediatrics, Dental and Clinical Psychology.
