President Tinubu of Nigeria Elected Chairman of ECOWAS

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is now the new Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government.

He was elected to this position during the 63rd Ordinary Session of the Authority held on July 09, 2023, in Bissau, Guinea-Bissau.

President Tinubu takes over from H. E Umaro Sissoco Embaló, President of The Repub-lic of Guinea-Bissau.

The Authority of ECOWAS Heads of States and Governments discussed the security and political situations in the Region, among other issues.

During this gathering, the bloc leaders considered reports from the Ninetieth Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Council of Ministers meeting held from July 6 to 7, 2023, in Bissau and security and political situations in the Region.
