President William Ruto has revealed that opposition leader Raila Odinga is conducting a clandestine move that seeks to bring him into government.
“I have said it before and nothing has changed, I know what he (Raila) is up to,” Ruto said, “we have no time for him and there is no handshake.”
The president dismissed Odinga as a man out to get a share of the government.
Ruto said that he won the election ‘fair and square’.
Raila is planning a major rally at the Kamukunji grounds in Nairobi on Monday, days after his political troops launched scathing attacks on the electoral commission, accusing it of rigging Ruto in.
“He is used to such theatrics, he did it in the former President Daniel Arap Moi regime, in Kibaki regime and he also scared Uhuru Kenyatta who invited him into government but we will not do the same,” said Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua who had accompanied the president for a thanksgiving church service in Kirinyaga on Sunday.
Odinga unsuccessfully challenged Ruto’s win at the Supreme Court after the August 2022 presidential election but politicians allied to him have lately claimed the election was rigged, citing a report by an anonymous whistleblower.
