President Kagame, President Yoon Suk Yeol Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Ties

This morning in Seoul, President Paul Kagame was received by President Yoon Suk Yeol of the Republic of Korea.

The leaders discussed fostering stronger bilateral relations and cooperation across various sectors, highlighting the growing partnership between the two nations.

Held at the Blue House, the meeting marked a significant step in enhancing diplomatic ties.

Both presidents emphasized mutual collaboration in technology, education, healthcare, and infrastructure development.

President Kagame expressed interest in leveraging Korean expertise to support Rwanda’s Vision 2050 development agenda.

Kagame said that Rwanda is keen to learn from South Korea’s experience in transforming its economy through technology and innovation.

President Yoon reciprocated by acknowledging Rwanda’s economic strides and emphasized Korea’s commitment to supporting Rwanda’s development through technology transfer, vocational training programs, and infrastructure projects.

South Korea is committed to being a reliable partner in Rwanda’s journey towards sustainable development, he said.

The leaders also discussed expanding trade and investment opportunities and explored the possibility of establishing a direct flight route between Seoul and Kigali.

Education and human resource development were key topics, with President Kagame seeking South Korea’s assistance in STEM education and digital literacy.

In healthcare, they discussed enhancing medical infrastructure and services in Rwanda.

President Yoon expressed South Korea’s willingness to share its healthcare expertise, particularly in telemedicine and medical research.
