President Paul Kagame, during an interaction with content creators at Mulindi, emphasized the importance of Rwandan values and criticized the imposition of foreign values on Rwandans.

His remarks underscored the need for Rwandans to maintain their cultural identity while integrating other values in a global context.

“Rwandans have values, there is no question about it,” Kagame said. “There are people in some parts of the world who think they are the only ones who have values, and their values must be conformed to by others, which I personally feel insulted by and could not accept, can’t accept it, it is not true.”

Kagame challenged the notion of superiority in values, questioning, “How would you measure that? Better in what sense?”

He highlighted the efforts of Rwandans to integrate their values with those of others globally, stressing that the governance and politics of a country should reflect the values of its society.

He reflected on the origins of the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF), stating, “The RPF was born for things to go back to the right order. The politics must be bringing back the unity of the country so that we are no longer divided by ethnic groups but rather united by national unity.”

The discussion highlighted the role of Rwandan values in the nation’s governance and political landscape, emphasizing unity and integration over division.

President Kagame’s remarks resonated with the content creators, who appreciated his steadfast defense of Rwandan cultural identity in a rapidly globalizing world.
