A report released by the civil society in Ituri province indicates that more that 400 congolese civilians were killed between January 4 and April 4.
The details are contained in the civil society’s latest quarterly report on the security situation in Ituri, made public on April 5th.
According to Dieudonné Loassa, president of this citizen structure, more than 371 civilians were massacred and 43 women and children, most of them kidnapped. The same source specified that 17 people had been injured and several properties damaged.
Faced with this gloomy security picture, civil society have asked the Head of State to closely monitor the security situation in Ituri, because “his electorate depends on it”.
In the same register, this source demanded the reorganization of the army and its equipment.
These killings are perpetrated by the ADF and inter-ethnic local militiamen in particular; Zaire, CODECO, Chini ya Kilima.
