The top leadership of Operation Smile organisation on Wednesday met with President Paul Kagame at village Urugwiro in Rwanda’s capital Kigali.
“President Kagame received a delegation from ‘Operation smile’, a global nonprofit dedicated to transforming the lives of patients and their communities by increasing access to safe surgery and comprehensive care, led by Kathy Magee, President and CEO of the organization to discuss ongoing surgical outreach activities, capacity development and future plans,” the Presidency said on Wednesday.
‘Operation smile’ which has been operating in Rwanda offers free treatment to cleft lip and cleft palate, it offers free surgeries and comprehensive care.
A cleft condition is a gap in the mouth that didn’t close during the early stages of pregnancy, and this happens more often than you may realize. It is estimated that, worldwide, a child is born every three minutes with a cleft condition.
The organisation boasts of more than 6,000 medical volunteers from all around the world, it is one of the world’s largest volunteer-based nonprofit organizations.
