Nyagatare Judge Arrested on Corruption Charges

The Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) has arrested Uwingabiye Delphine, a judge at Gatunda Primary Court in Nyagatare, for allegedly soliciting and accepting bribes in exchange for promising to influence the outcome of a court case.

Her husband, Rwarinda Theogene, was also taken into custody as an accomplice. The arrest follows allegations of judicial misconduct and bribery, reinforcing ongoing efforts to uphold integrity within Rwanda’s judicial system.

RIB has reiterated its commitment to fighting corruption, warning that misuse of official powers for personal gain will not be tolerated. The agency urged public officials to adhere to their legal responsibilities, emphasizing that those who engage in corrupt practices will face serious legal consequences.

Authorities commended citizens who provide information to expose corruption and called on the public to remain vigilant in reporting misconduct. The suspects are expected to face legal proceedings in accordance with the law.
