Senior government officials have dismissed speculation over President Paul Kagame’s health, confirming he is in good condition and simply taking a routine personal break.
The response comes amid a wave of unfounded claims on social media, largely driven by haters, critics and political opponents, alleging that the President is seriously ill or has died.
These claims have circulated widely, despite a lack of any credible evidence.
The government spokesperson, Yolande Makolo told this publication that the rumors are baseless and urged the public to remain calm.
“Please don’t be carried away by this recurring hater fake news. There is nothing to be worried or concerned about,” she said.
She clarified that it is not unusual for President Kagame to take time away from the public eye, especially after an intense schedule of national and international engagements.
“He is a human being, and like anyone else, he takes time to rest. There is nothing unusual or alarming,” a close family member said. “The President is well and taking a normal break. He remains fully in charge.”
There is no reason for alarm, “President is well.”
Similar rumors have surfaced in the past during periods of reduced public visibility, only to be debunked once the President resumed engagements.
Authorities say the current speculation follows a familiar pattern of politically motivated disinformation.
The public is called upon to rely on official communication channels and not to amplify unverified content.
