Rwanda’s top diplomat Olivier Nduhungirehe has met several leaders from different countries with whom he signed a score of cooperation agreements and Memorandum of Understanding.
The encounters were made possible on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly which convened (Sept.22-23) at UN Headquarters in New York.
On the second day of the UNGA, Minister Nduhungirehe held fruitful bilateral meetings with Dr. Mohammed Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi, Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, Hon. E.P. Chet Greene, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Antigua and Barbuda, and Mr. Ignazio Cassis Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation. Their discussions focused on strengthening diplomatic ties and cooperation.
The Rwandan head of diplomacy also met with Fuad Husseein Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, Daniels Ugochi, Deputy Director General for Operations UN-Migration, Taye Atske, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, and Shegun Bakari, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Benin. They discussed further strengthening bilateral relations and ongoing partnerships.
The UN Department of Global Communications is also holding its flagship SDG Media Zone during the high-level week 23-27 September, with impactful in-depth interviews and dialogues on global issues that matter to people everywhere.
Meanwhile, from 24-28 September, 30 September, World leaders gathered to engage in the annual high-level General Debate under the theme, “Leaving no one behind: acting together for the advancement of peace, sustainable development and human dignity for present and future generations”.
Heads of State and Government and ministers will explore solutions to intertwined global challenges to advance peace, security, and sustainable development.
