Martin Fayulu a congolese opposition politician has rejected the outcome of the December 20 general elections describing the entire process as a sham election.
In a statement issued a few hours after Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) published poll results, Fayulu accused the Electoral body president of serving selfish interests of President Felix Tshisekedi.
“Mr. Denis Kadima and the CENI have just crossed the Rubicon, thus confirming that they were missionaries in the service of Mr. Félix Tshisekedi Tshilombo to try to wash away the opprobrium that has inhabited him since 2018. Shame on them, because they do not have not arrived. On the contrary, they added an extra layer to it.”
The opponent considered that the elections were not regularly organized:
“Everyone knows that Mr. Tshisekedi Tshilombo cannot, under any circumstances, win an election organized regularly in the DRC. This is why I completely reject the sham elections and the far-fetched results of the CENI.”
The president of the ECIDE political party also called on the Congolese to “protest against this new coup d’état carried out by the CENI for the benefit of Mr. Félix Tshisekedi Tshilombo”.
According to Martin Fayulu, the crisis of legitimacy is more deeply rooted in the DRC:
“Do not accept this new coup. We must resist as Article 64 of the Constitution demands of us.”
He therefore called for the organization of new elections to emerge from this crisis of legitimacy.
“We need new elections, credible, transparent, peaceful and impartial elections,” added the president of ECIDE.
Following the proclamation of the provisional results by the CENI, Martin Fayulu came in 3rd position with 960,478 votes, or 5.33%.
He ranks behind Félix Tshisekedi (73.34%) and Moïse Katumbi (18.08%).
