Kolwezi Curfew Lifted, Tshisekedi Expected At 12th Conference of Governors

President Félix Tshisekedi is today expected to attend the 12th Conference of Governors scheduled to be held in the city of Kolwezi.

Emerging details indicate that Lualaba province has been under a prolonged several months long curfew, However, it has been lifted as the President comes to the region.

The provincial Minister of the Interior, Roy Kaumba Mayonde claimed that the curfew was lifted after a significant improvement in the security situation in recent weeks. But the provincial government calls for continued vigilance.

“It has been decided to lift the curfew previously imposed across the entire provincial territory,” the statement reads in part.

“The population is now allowed to go about its business freely,” says Minister Roy Kaumba Philippe.

This lifting of the curfew comes as the city of Kolwezi is hosting the 12th conference of governors from Monday, June 9, which will be chaired by the Head of State, Félix Tshisekedi.
