US Vice President Kamala Harris has officially received the Democratic Party’s nomination to run against Republican candidate Donald Trump in the US presidential election, scheduled for next November.
The Associated Press reported that Harris officially became the nominee after a five-day round of electronic voting by Democratic National Convention delegates that ended early today, adding that the party had said in a statement issued shortly before midnight that 99 percent of delegates had voted for Harris.
The US presidential elections are scheduled to be held on November 5. The Republican Party has nominated Donald Trump for the elections, and Robert Kennedy Jr. has announced his candidacy as an independent.
