President Paul Kagame of Rwanda is currently in China’s capital Beijing attending a 3-day Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
The theme of the 2024 FOCAC Summit is “Joining Hands to Advance Modernization and Build a High-Level China-Africa Community with a Shared Future.”
In his remarks to the forum, Chinese President Xi Jiping told African leaders that his country and Africa can collectively manouver through the existing global challenges.
President Xi promised that China will open its door wider to African countries and create new momentum for cooperation and promote high-quality development of China-Africa cooperation.
China proposes a “five-no” approach to cooperation with African countries: no interference in their pursuit of development paths that fit their national conditions, no interference in their internal affairs, no imposition of will, no attachment of political strings to assistance, and no seeking of selfish political gains in investment and financing cooperation.
Meanwhile, Rwanda’s Foreign Affairs Minister Olivier Nduhungirehe is also in Beijing where he participated in the Ministerial Conference preparing the Head of State segment of the FOCAC summit.
