John Mahama, of Ghana’s National Democratic Congress (NDC) has won the 2024 presidential elections.
Mahama won 56.3 percent of the vote against 41.3 percent for Mahamudu Bawumia who has also conceded defeat.
Mahama wrote on X platform, “I have, this morning, received a congratulatory call from my brother Dr.Bawumia, following my emphatic victory in Saturday’s election. Thank you, Ghana.”
“The people of Ghana have spoken, the people have voted for change at this time and we respect it with all humility,” Bawumia said in a news conference on Sunday.
Bawumia said he called Mahama, of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), to congratulate him. Bawumia, has assured Ghanaians that the NPP will not be a disruptive opposition following the 2024 general elections.
“I want to assure him (Mahama) and Ghanaians that we will not be a disruptive opposition but we will do a thorough job and our MPs will do a good for Ghana,” he assured.
“Our internal collation shows that the NDC has tentatively won 185 parliamentary seats. This reflects the overwhelming confidence that Ghanaians have placed in us to represent them in Parliament,” declared NDC’s National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi.
