Reports emerging from the Middle East war theatre indicate that the Israeli Defense Minister has threatened to overthrow the Iranian regime as the exchange of missiles between the two countries escalates.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said during a cabinet meeting “It is essential that the people know their officials are by their side and striving to create proper conditions for them.”
He called for national cohesion and public engagement saying that with unity and solidarity, the country can overcome any crisis.
Pezeshkian has warned that Iran will respond at the same level to any act of aggression by Israel, stressing that Tehran is not seeking war but will not remain silent.
“We did not start this war, but we will respond to the Zionists’ crimes. Any attack against Iran will be met with a response at the same level,” he said.
Israel and Iran have been carrying out attacks on each other since Friday, June 13.
Israel justifies its attacks by claiming that Iran is on the verge of acquiring nuclear weapons. Several sources have indicated that Trump is considering attacking Iranian nuclear facilities.
“If the United States wants nuclear talks to resume, it must first stop Israel’s regional aggression,” Pezeshkian said, adding, “If the U.S. does not contain the Zionist regime, Iran will be forced to respond with even more painful measures,” he said.
Pezeshkian said Iran’s enemies had miscalculated by assuming that assassinating military commanders, targeting scientists, and bombing civilian homes would weaken Iran’s resolve.
“But with the guidance of the Supreme Leader, the swift deployment of commanders, and the full readiness of our armed forces, the enemy was targeted that very night and suffered heavy losses,” he noted. “Should they repeat such aggression, our response will be even more severe.”
Pezeshkian instructed his ministers to delegate sufficient authority to provincial officials and their deputies, enabling more efficient decision-making across all sectors.
Meanwhile, protesters from different countries gathered in front of the UN’s Geneva office to show solidarity with the Iranian people and to strongly denounce Israel’s attacks on the country.
On Tuesday, the foreign ministries of twenty-one Arab and Muslim nations denounced Israeli strikes against Iran.
