Reports reaching Taarifa Congo Desk indicate that a school principal in Goma was summarily executed by unknown gunmen in front of his home on Katwe Avenue, in the Ndosho district, in the commune of Karisimbi.
Muhindo Mateene Jospin was a Director of Studies at the Tuungane Institute in the northern part of Goma.
Residents in the area have been stunned by the gruesome murder of Muhindo.
” It was a tragic death that occurred at his home on the night of Saturday, April 19 at 9:00 p.m. He was a committed educator, a model of rigor, passion and dedication to youth,” said Prefect of Studies at the Tuungane Institute, Baseme Rwagaza, in a message of condolence.
“We firmly condemn this umpteenth odious act and offer our sincere condolences,” he added.
Insecurity persists in Goma. That same evening, other criminal acts were reported in various parts of the city. In Kasika, heavily armed men broke into several homes, stealing phones, money, and other valuables.
In Ndosho a shop was robbed. The thugs stole cash, phones, various items, and even the owner’s motorcycle. In Kyeshero, near the Masisi parking lot, residents say several homes were visited by bandits who operated undisturbed.
The M23-AFC armed group captured Goma last January. The rebels are struggling to stem this wave of violence that is destabilizing the city.
