Former President Macky Sall Mobilises For Return

Macky Sall the former President of Senegal has kicked off a countrywide early mobilisation of party supporters to prepare for the forthcoming elections.

“For 12 years, we went to elections and won. The very last one, however, was not favorable to us. These are things that happen. However, this should not discourage us and call into question our determination. Without polemics or disputes, and always in a spirit of unity, we will study the causes of this defeat,” former President Macky Sall told party supporters.

The former leader heads the Benno bokk yaakaar Coalition which recently lost elections. He has sent delegations of coalition political leaders to meet the activists and maintain their mobilization.

The coalition’s visit to Tamba and Kaffrine regions was particularly lively, with the president speaking to his followers by telephone.

Before meeting with supporters and party leaders of his Benno bokk yaakaar (Bby) coalition, one of these delegations, led by the President of the National Assembly, Amadou Mame Diop, the President of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council, Abdoulaye Daouda Diallo, went to the Daaka of Medina Gounass and presented the wishes of the former President.

At the Kaffrine stage, where activists and departmental officials were gathered under the leadership of former minister Abdoulaye Saydou Sow, mayor and political leader of Benno, they all had the opportunity to listen to the president of their coalition address them directly.

Through a phone, put on loudspeaker mode, Macky Sall urged supporters to unite and “it only depends on you, your unity, your mobilization.”

All departmental leaders of the Benno Coalition from the Kaffrine region were present at this meeting. Officials like Abdoulaye Willane or Aliou Sow were particularly noted.

“We have succeeded together in writing beautiful pages in the history of our country. We will continue to write new pages together, with full responsibility and in line with our democratic convictions.” And to achieve this ambition, he urged his activists to “stay united, resolutely focused on the future…, to resume work at the grassroots, among and alongside our valiant populations, because they are the source of legitimacy and the seat par excellence of sovereignty,” he said.
