A training session aimed at improving public service delivery through technology was held today for employees responsible for addressing citizen complaints in the Eastern Province. The event took place in Rwamagana District and was organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government.
The focus of the training was the e-Citizen system, a digital platform designed to help local government employees efficiently record, manage, and resolve public complaints. By utilizing this system, officials aim to streamline communication with citizens and ensure that their concerns are addressed promptly.
During the training, Governor Pudence Rubingisa highlighted the importance of addressing citizen issues as a core responsibility of local government. “Resolving complaints from our citizens is fundamental to our mandate,” he said. “The e-Citizen system will bridge gaps in data collection and management, improve reporting processes, and enhance the tracking of how complaints are received and resolved.”
The governor emphasized that the successful implementation of the e-Citizen system could lead to greater transparency and accountability in government operations. He stressed the need for citizens to feel valued and heard, which is essential for building trust between the government and the community.
As local government employees receive training on this new system, officials are optimistic that it will significantly enhance their ability to manage public concerns. This initiative marks a critical step towards utilizing technology to create a more responsive and engaged government in Rwanda.
