Tension between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo has taken a new dimension as the two neighbouring countries continue to trade accusations of meddling.
According to emerging details, authorities of the Kamanyola-Bugarama border, in Walungu territory in South Kivu, on Wednesday agreed, that the border will all activities from 6 p.m. for security reasons related to the conflicts between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda.
According to the head of the border post, Dismans Kashongwe, this constitutes a preventive decision given the current relationship between the DRC and Rwanda, while also specifying that the strategies will be put into practice to strengthen border security.
He added that this decision mainly concerns all the small and medium-sized cable areas of this border zone. The police will get hold of the recalcitrant and any suspicious subject who tries to violate this measure, underlines Dismans Kashongwe.
“This measure concerns all traders, restaurants, refreshments and publishing houses working near the Kamanyola-Bugarama border. At this time, the security elements will already be on site to arrest the suspicious persons on one side and the disobedient on the other side, ”he said.
This decision came out of a meeting held between the border authorities and the workers, a few days after the case of theft perpetrated by false citizens at the Caisse Générale d’épargne du Congo (CADECO).
It should be recalled that this measure comes in addition to the other measures already taken at this border, in particular that linked to the closure of all movement to cross the border from 2:30 p.m., still following the Rwandan-Congolese tensions.
