Cabo Delgado Votes With More Abstentions

Cabo Delgado, Mozambique’s northernmost province which suffered years of occupation by islamic Jihadists went to polls on Saturday, a testament that peace has returned to the once dangerous area.

Daniel Chapo and Frelimo are in the lead in three provinces of the country, namely Cabo Delgado, in the North, and Gaza and Maputo, in the South, according to the average vote count presented this Saturday.

In the South, Venâncio Mondlane is in second place, Ossufo Momade in third and Lutero Simango, in last place.

In the North, the trends continue with the exception of the exchange between Ossufo Momade, who is in second place and Venâncio Mondlane in third.

The more “time passes, the closer” Mozambicans are to knowing the final results, and, while they are still waiting, in three days of counting, the data indicates that, for the presidential elections, the first place in the preference of the majority of voters is Daniel Chapo, presidential candidate of Frelimo.
