Bukavu and Goma Borders to Operate 24 hours Daily

The AFC/M23 admnistration has issued a public notice ordering Bukavu and Goma borders to operate 24hours.

Cross border trade and movement of people are expected to increase as livelihoods of border communities largely depend on each other.

For example the small scale traders living in Goma, cross to Rwanda everyday to sell an assortment of products especially; live chicken, fruits, fish among others to earn a living.

On February 11, the AFC/M23 had lifted the curfew in Goma and extended border operation hours from 6AM to 10PM. The La Corniche Border- the busiest in the East African region, will now open 24 hours effectively boosting trade and livelihoods.

Governor Bahati Musanga Joseph, earlier noted that officials from DRC and Rwanda will collaborate to ensure the efficient operations of the border.

Under the Felix Tshisekedi administration, the La Corniche Border, one of the busiest in the region, would open late in the morning and close early evening.
