Retired Brigadier General Frank Rusagara aged 70 has died in prison where he has been serving a 15 year sentence guilty of inciting insurrection and tarnishing the government’s image.
Reports trickling in indicate that Brig.Gen Rusagara breathed his last on Wednesday.
He previously held multiple senior positions in the Rwanda Defense Force including serving as secretary general of the Defence Ministry and military attaché in the Rwandan High Commission in the United Kingdom.
Emerging details note that Brig.Gen Rusagara succumbed to Cancer after a prolonged battle. His wife Christine Rusagara also died on cancer in 2016.
