The AFC/M23 Special Forces unit has dismantled a Burundian troops base in a sophisticated daring raid in South Kivu, Taarifa investigative Desk has learned.
Emerging reports from the battlefield indicate that heavy fighting has flared up in the Ruzizi lowland plains as the rebels battle against the Congolese troops supported by Burundian army and Wazalendo militia.
Angolan troops and South African soldiers are expected to enter reinforce the Congolese troops and allies.
Reports also indicate that the rebels who have been surrounding Uvira City are likely to regain control of the strategic City which they had unilaterally pulled out of in respect for the Washington demands to pave way to implementation of the Angola peace treaty.
Meanwhile, the rebels alliance is sounding alarm over the intensified attacks against Tutsi Congolese civilians.
Lawrence Kanyuka the spokesperson for the rebels said ,”We draw the attention of the Congolese people to the situation in Minembwe, which has now become apocalyptic.
“The killings, as well as the forced displacements of our Banyamulenge compatriots, continue relentlessly. Entire families are being decimated,” Kanyuka said early Tuesday.
