Kenya’s capital Nairobi is all set for the opening round of HSBC SVNS 2 this weekend, 14 and 15 February, at Nyayo National Stadium.
Nairobi Governor Sakaja Johnson welcomed teams, officials, and fans from across the world, describing the event as a historic achievement for both Nairobi and the wider rugby fraternity.
“It is a great pleasure and honor to welcome the world to the City under the Sun, Nairobi, as we host the inaugural HSBC Sevens Tour Tournament a historic moment not only for our city but for the entire rugby fraternity,” Sakaja said.
Across HSBC SVNS 2, the top four men’s and women’s teams will earn promotion to the elite HSBC SVNS World Championship Series.
This winner-takes-all series will see 24 teams (12 men’s and 12 women’s) compete at prestigious stops in Hong Kong, Valladolid and Bordeaux.
