Umushyikirano 2026: National Dialogue Charts Rwanda’s Path to Accelerated Development

The 20th National Umushyikirano Council Meeting (#Umushyikirano2026) is set to convene at the Kigali Convention Centre, bringing together Rwandans from all walks of life alongside invited friends of the country.

The annual national dialogue remains a cornerstone of Rwanda’s governance model, providing a unique platform for citizens and leaders to reflect on progress, confront challenges, and collectively shape the nation’s development trajectory.

Held at a time when Rwanda continues to register tangible socio-economic gains, Umushyikirano 2026 will focus on assessing the implementation of government programs and agreeing on concrete measures to further accelerate national development.

According to the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, an impressive 80 percent of resolutions adopted during the 19th Umushyikirano have already been implemented—underscoring the forum’s role not just as a space for dialogue, but as a driver of action.

Significant strides have been recorded across key sectors of the economy. In the industrial sector alone, industrial parks established across the country have created more than 370,000 jobs nationwide, contributing to employment generation, skills development, and increased productivity.

These parks have also played a critical role in attracting investment and promoting value addition within Rwanda’s growing manufacturing base.Infrastructure development has equally remained a priority.

Over the past year, more than 4,200 kilometers of feeder roads have been constructed, significantly improving access to markets, social services, and economic opportunities—particularly in rural areas.
