RwandAir has strengthened its operations with the delivery of two Boeing 737-800 aircraft this month, one of which is already in service.

The airline also announced the return of several newly serviced aircraft to active duty, a move it says will significantly reduce delays and cancellations that have troubled passengers in recent weeks.

The Kigali-based carrier confirmed that a third aircraft is expected in the fourth quarter of 2025, alongside the anticipated arrival of a wide-body Airbus A330-200, which will bolster its long-haul operations between Africa and key global destinations.

RwandAir CEO Yvonne Makolo acknowledged that the airline had faced technical challenges across parts of its fleet in recent months, forcing schedule disruptions and inconveniencing customers.

“RwandAir is pleased to have resolved the challenges to our schedules over the last weeks, and to welcome our aircraft back into operation,” Makolo said. “We sincerely apologise to all of our customers whose travel plans were disrupted, and thank them for their patience. Together with the arrival of new aircraft, the strengthened fleet will enable us to improve reliability, strengthen our schedules, and deliver an even better travel experience.”

The two new Boeing 737-800s, configured with 12 Business Class and 162 Economy Class seats, will primarily serve short and medium-haul routes within Africa and the region.

RwandAir described the fleet additions as part of its long-term strategy to modernise operations, expand its network, and reinforce its goal of connecting Africa to the world.
