Kinshasa’s upmarket S&K Supermarkets chain has rejected allegations that it is linked to Joseph Kabila family.
The concerns arose after claims went viral on social media alluding to possible connection to the family of former President Kabila.
Kabila currently commanding a new rebel movement FRN in Eastern part of the country had fallen out with President Felix Tshisekedi.
After assuming command of the Front for Refoundation of the Nation (FRN), Kabila threatened that his next move was to March into Kinshasa by force of arms.
Tshisekedi regime agents have stepped up witch-hunt for Kabila sympathisers.
S-MART SARL is the legally registered proprietor of S&K Supermarkets chain in the country.
In a statement dated Friday, October 16, 2026, and signed by its legal counsel, Raphaël Kibuka Kia Kiese of the Kibuka law firm, the company categorically and unequivocally denied allegations linking the business to the Kabilas.
A statement published by management of S-MART SARL described the allegations as “false” and “clearly malicious” information.
The company said it has no ownership ties, affiliations, or relationships of any kind with the Kabila family.
However, the company refused to allow its identity, reputation, and activities to be associated, in its words, with individuals or interests that are not its own.
S-MART SARL has also announced that it has filed a complaint with relevant courts and authorities, invoking the Congolese Digital Code and Penal Code, so that the authors of these publications can be held accountable for their actions.
