Joseph Kabila who recently got appointed to command a new rebel outfit Front for Refoundation of the Nation continues to give Kinshasa regime sleepless nights.
Isaac Tshilumbayi the first vice-president of DRC’s National Assembly attempted to reorient deliberations at the SADC parliamentary forum convened in Johannesburg south Africa by smuggling in the ongoing Crisis in east of his country.
While the forum was focused on discussions aimed at transformation of the organization into a regional parliament, Tshilumbayi interrupted by bringing the security situation to the attention of the executive committee.
For the past three years, the Kinshasa government has been fighting against the AFC/M23 rebels that now control South Kivu and North Kivu provinces both rich in minerals and fertile lands.
Tshilumbayi pleaded with the SADC states not to grant Kabila the considerations linked to his former status because of his involvement in the FRN rebel movement.
“He has taken the lead of this criminal movement. We invite all members to acknowledge this reality and never again offer the same consideration to this former head of state turned warlord,” said Tshilumbayi.
National MP Enock Batsotsi Nyamwisi, who was part of the delegation said, “Our forum talks more about Ukraine, which may be providing the wheat we need, and we talk more and more about Iran and the Middle East for the oil we suffer from. Even if DRC had nothing to offer, when it has so much, the commodification of human beings should concern us more deeply.”
SADC ParliamentÂ
The DRC has ratified the protocol that transforms the Forum into a regional parliament.
Member states are finalizing the details of the transformation, according to Tshilumbayi.
The future SADC parliament will have the authority to legislate on education, health, agriculture, the rule of law, democratic governance, and the separation of powers.
