76 Rwandan Officers Graduate from Military Leadership Program

A total of 76 officers, including 72 from the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF), two from the Rwanda National Police, and two from the Rwanda Correctional Service, graduated from the Junior Command and Staff Course on Friday.

The five-month course was held at the RDF Command and Staff College in Nyakinama, Musanze District.

The graduation ceremony, attended by senior military and police officials, was presided over by Gen MK Mubarakh, Chief of Defence Staff, who congratulated the graduates and highlighted the importance of continued education and training in the security forces.

“As you depart this College, you have a significant role to play in our country’s transformation,” Gen Mubarakh said. He emphasized the need for military officers to engage in global issues while ensuring the defense of national interests, as stressed by President Paul Kagame, the Commander-in-Chief.

During the ceremony, awards were presented to top performers. Capt Michael Nsengiyumva was named the overall best student, while Maj Vedaste Masabo received the Best College Research Paper award.

The event was attended by the graduates’ families, religious leaders, and local authorities from the Northern Province.

This graduation reinforces Rwanda’s ongoing efforts to professionalize its armed forces and build leadership capacity within its security institutions.
