Singapore-based technology and engineering company ST Engineering is exploring opportunities to support the Rwanda National Police (RNP) through advanced security technologies aimed at improving operational efficiency and strengthening national security capabilities.

The discussions took place during the ongoing Rwanda-Singapore Trade and Investment Mission, which seeks to deepen commercial partnerships and identify investment opportunities between the two countries.

A delegation from ST Engineering, led by Charles Lee, Vice-President for Global Sales, Middle East and Africa, met with the Deputy Inspector General of Police in Charge of Operations, Commissioner of Police Vincent B. Sano, alongside other senior police commissioners.

The meeting focused on how ST Engineering’s technology and smart security solutions could contribute to Rwanda’s efforts to modernise policing operations, strengthen institutional capabilities and improve responses to emerging security challenges

ST Engineering is a Singapore-headquartered global technology, defence and engineering group operating across aerospace, smart city, defence and public security sectors. Its portfolio includes digital systems, secure communications, surveillance technologies and integrated security solutions used by government agencies and commercial organisations.

Such technologies can support law enforcement through improved situational awareness, secure information exchange, coordinated emergency responses and more efficient deployment of personnel and resources.

For Rwanda, the engagement comes as security institutions increasingly face the challenge of adapting to technological developments, including cyber threats, sophisticated criminal networks and the growing need for secure digital infrastructure.

The meeting also reflects the broader scope of Rwanda’s economic engagement with Singapore, extending beyond conventional trade and investment into technology transfer, institutional cooperation and specialised security solutions.

Singapore has developed considerable expertise in digital government, urban security management and technology-driven public services, areas that offer potential opportunities for institutional collaboration.

However, the discussions were exploratory. Neither the Rwanda National Police nor ST Engineering announced a procurement agreement, financial commitment or specific technology deployment arising from the meeting.

The engagement nevertheless provides a platform for further discussions on how Singaporean security technologies could be adapted to Rwanda’s operational priorities.
