Doudou Roussel Fwamba Likunde Li-Botayi (pictured above), the Minister of Finance of Democratic Republic of Congo has criticized Former President Joseph Kabila’s argument on national debt.
On Friday, Kabila appearing on a live Television interview criticised President Félix Tshisekedi’s economic and financial management, specifically claiming that the public debt has surged to more than U$18 billion.
In a post on X, the country’s Finance Minister said, “the debt amount with its weight in the economy is less than 20% of GDP.”

Kabila warned that current deals, including mineral agreements compromise national independence and the interests of future generations.
The former leader currently accused by Kinshasa for links with the AFC/M23 rebels, condemned rising authoritarianism, the institutionalization of tribalism and nepotism, and military setbacks in the eastern DRC.
Joseph Kabila who lives in exile but regularly flies to Eastern DRC in rebel controlled territory, accused the government of worsening state corruption and the embezzlement of public funds, citing recent World Bank Worldwide Governance Indicators.
