The AFC/M23 rebels have reportedly eliminated another mercenary fighting alongside the Congolese troops and wazalendo militia in Eastern DRC.
The mercenary has been identified as Tim Kennedy a US national. The US Green Beret was reportedly shot during an ambush on September 17.
Kennedy was part of a three-man team. He reportedly sustained multiple gunshot wounds, including three to the leg, before being evacuated to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in the United States for treatment. His condition is said to be stable.
Former Newzealand defence Force member Justin Conaglen was also reportedly killed in the incident, while a third man was injured.
Unconfirmed reports further mention a contract with a security firm linked to American businessman Erik Prince, as well as a possible confrontation with elements from the Russian Africa Corps.
Erik Prince, the founder of Blackwater, initially entered Congo through an agreement to strengthen mineral-revenue collection and combat smuggling.
His operations have reportedly expanded into military support for Congolese forces confronting M23.
