A total of 316 Rwandans who had been living in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have voluntarily returned to Rwanda, crossing through the La Corniche One-Stop Border Post on Thursday.
Of those who returned, 263 came from the city of Goma, while the remaining 53 arrived from Bukavu, both located in eastern DRC.
Upon arrival in Rwanda, the returnees were transferred to Kijote Transit Centre, where they will receive assistance before reuniting with their families and resuming their normal lives.
The initiative is intended to provide the returnees with essential support and help them reintegrate into their communities as they rebuild their lives in Rwanda.
Their voluntary return marks an important step towards reuniting with loved ones and starting a new chapter in their home country.
