The City of Kigali and Israel’s Modi’in-Maccabim-Reut Municipality are exploring opportunities for cooperation in urban planning, mobility and municipal development as the two cities seek to strengthen the exchange of expertise and practical experience.
The discussions took place when Kigali Mayor Samuel Dusengiyumva received Haim Bibas, Mayor of Modi’in-Maccabim-Reut, for a courtesy visit.
The talks focused on areas of mutual interest, including how cities plan and manage urban growth, develop mobility systems and improve municipal services. The two sides also discussed broader opportunities for cooperation and knowledge exchange.
The engagement comes as Kigali continues to implement its long-term urban development agenda, including plans focused on sustainable urban growth, improved public transport and better mobility infrastructure.
Modi’in-Maccabim-Reut, a planned city in central Israel, has also developed experience in urban planning, municipal services, public transport and the use of technology in city management.
For Kigali, the engagement provides an opportunity to examine experiences from another planned city while sharing Rwanda’s own approaches to urban development, mobility and municipal management.
No specific agreement or joint project was announced following the meeting, but the discussions could provide a basis for further exchanges and cooperation between the two municipalities.
