A delegation of officials from Rwanda’s Ministry of Trade and Industry is in Jakarta, Indonesia, attending a training programme focused on strengthening trade and investment through South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC).
The SSTC 2026 Training Program, organised by Indonesia’s Ministry of Trade in partnership with the Indonesia office of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), brings together officials from several African countries to exchange knowledge and practical experience in promoting trade and investment.
Participants include representatives from Rwanda, Burundi, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan and Tanzania, alongside officials from Ethiopia and Mozambique.
The programme focuses on sharing Indonesia’s experience in trade and investment development while creating opportunities for participating countries to learn from one another and strengthen economic cooperation.
The training is also expected to provide a platform for officials from East African Community (EAC) countries to explore approaches that can support stronger regional trade, investment promotion and economic partnerships.
A representative of Rwanda’s delegation said the programme provides an opportunity to learn from Indonesia’s experience while strengthening cooperation among participating countries.
“The programme offers an important platform for sharing knowledge and experiences in trade and investment, while building stronger partnerships among countries of the Global South.”
The SSTC approach promotes cooperation among developing countries through the exchange of knowledge, technical expertise and practical solutions to shared development challenges.
For Rwanda, participation in the Jakarta programme provides an opportunity to strengthen its understanding of strategies for expanding trade and attracting investment, while building networks with officials and institutions from across Africa and Asia.
