Rwanda Agri Exports Fetched U$11.8M In Five Days

Rwanda generated U$11.8 million from agricultural exports between September 14 and 18, 2026, with the country shipping 8,391 metric tonnes of agricultural products to international markets, according to data from the National Agricultural Export Development Board (NAEB).

The five-day export performance highlights the growing contribution of agricultural commodities to Rwanda’s export earnings, with coffee emerging as the leading individual revenue earner during the period.

Coffee exports amounted to 802 metric tonnes, generating U$5.55 million, or nearly half of the total agricultural export revenue recorded during the period.

Diversified agricultural products followed with the largest export volume, totaling 6,159 metric tonnes and generating U$4.11 million.

The category accounted for more than two-thirds of the total reported export volume.

Other agricultural products also contributed to the earnings.

Rwanda exported 571 metric tonnes of fruits, generating U$558,818, while 229 metric tonnes of animal products earned U$430,187.

Vegetable exports stood at 401 metric tonnes, bringing in U$418,641, while 218 metric tonnes of tea generated U$677,222.

The country also exported 10 metric tonnes of flowers, earning $64,527 during the five-day period.

The export destinations varied by product. Coffee and tea were among the products shipped to international markets, while vegetables were mainly destined for Great Britain, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates and African countries.

Fruits were exported primarily to the United Arab Emirates and African countries, while flowers reached markets including South Africa, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

Diversified agricultural products were mainly exported to Bangladesh, the United States and African countries, while animal products were also shipped to African markets.

The figures underline the breadth of Rwanda’s agricultural export basket, extending beyond traditional commodities such as coffee and tea to include horticulture, animal products and other diversified agricultural products.

With U$11.8 million earned in just five days, agriculture continues to play an important role in Rwanda’s efforts to expand export earnings and connect local producers and exporters to markets beyond the country.
