Fierce battle has been reported along the Masisi and Walikale border in North Kivu, DRC.
Reports reaching Taarifa Investigative Desk indicate that the security situation remains tense as AFC/M23 battle against the Congolese troops.
It has also emerged that the DRC army has deployed it’s air force to bombard rebel positions.
Positions held by the AFC/M23 in Malemo, in the Bashali Mokoto settlement in Masisi, as well as in Luola, in the Kisimba settlement, in Walikale, have suffered air strikes by the FARDC since Tuesday.
However, there is no reliable assessment of the impact of the airstrikes.
These strikes came after the reinforcement of AFC/M23 positions in this strategic area, with the arrival of new fighters and ammunition.
Reinforcement movements were also observed at Malemo, in Masisi, and of Ihula, in Balindu village in the Kisimba settlement in Walikale.
Insider information indicates that these movements could be part of the preparation for a wider offensive targeting in particular the Malemo-Mindjendje and Luola-Mpety axes, with the presumed objective of advancing towards Pinga, a strategic city in the Walikale territory.
